The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. Our aim is to develop successful, long-term relationships between Libya and the UK in the areas of Education, Society, the Arts and English Language Learning.

 

We are now recruiting for the post of Director Programmes. This is a crucial new senior role which will help us build a portfolio of programmes which will have a real impact in Libya at this important time in the county’s history.

The post-holder will be part of the British Council Libya Senior Management Team. They will lead on our Education programmes, as well as being accountable for all programme delivery in Education, Arts and Society. Key responsibilities include the rigorous monitoring and evaluation of targets, and development of a digital strategy in order to significantly increase our reach and impact across Libya.  

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator in both English and Arabic, be familiar with the higher and/or vocational education sectors in Libya, and have professional experience at a management level, with proven success at delivering challenging targets and establishing strategic relationships. They will have experience in developing and implementing a social media and/or digital strategy to support delivery.
